Transitional Kitchen

Design by Amelia Mathieson

This suave kitchen design has a natural flow and sophisticated flair.

Deslaurier's "Brookfield" door style lends a refined and simple backdrop to this spacious kitchen. Upper cabinets are MDF painted in "Classic White" while the base cabinets, pantry, and floating shelves are all maple with a warm "Cattail" stain. A ceiling-height backsplash with neutral-coloured tiles strikes the delicate balance between light and dark. A 4-inch flush bulkhead trim extends the uppers nicely to the tall ceiling and a pair of floating shelves allows the homeowner to showcase their personality with décor.

Two kitchen islands are stand-out features in the room. A custom diamond wine rack on the exterior end panel of one island is an aesthetically pleasing and practical addition—ideal for the homeowner who moonlights as a dinner host. The other island, a separate eating nook, boasts a furniture toe kick which lines all sides and a shaker décor panel that stylizes the end opposite to the quartz countertop overhang.

This kitchen is chock-full of premium accessories to simplify household living. Pull-out spice organizers are well-appointed on either side of the gas cooktop. A tall pull-out swivel pantry stores non-perishables conveniently next to the French-door refrigerator and double wall ovens. A magic corner accessory, pull-out waste bin, and full-size tray dividers maximize storage at every turn. Last but not least, two sinks—one double-basin and one farmhouse—make rinsing, washing, and cleaning easy to do, whichever end of the kitchen you're in.

From all angles, this kitchen design exists to please!
