When our clients request a renovation that improves space usage and incorporates an elegant design, we are always ready for the challenge. The goal was not just to make the kitchen appealing and warm but to optimize a more practical floor plan and layout for an open-concept look.

Thanks to Deslaurier’s impeccable designer, Darien Wilson was able to come in and redesign a once small kitchen space into an open-concept and elevated gathering area.

The Challenge

We needed to design a kitchen that opened up the small space, improved countertop usage and created an inviting and warm atmosphere. Guided by a vision of modern style, we had to remove a wall and relocate this new kitchen into the previous dining room space. The goal was to craft a style of warmth and sophistication with a more practical floor plan and an open layout. This approach not only enhanced the kitchen's functionality and square footage but also created a welcoming environment to cook and gather.

The Game Plan 

Having previously worked on a similar layout in a neighbouring house, Darien knew exactly what was required to give the clients their dream kitchen. 

Removing the same wall as before immediately would create a much larger kitchen by incorporating the dining room and being able to have a large, long island for the counter space and seating area requested. 

Using Urban Quarry and HanStone would create a timeless elegance and sophistication that was inviting to the eye.

The Result

This transitional kitchen showcased warmth and delicacy through a thoughtful blend of design elements. Shaker doors were seamlessly tied in with slab doors, creating a harmonious and visually appealing space. The focal point of the kitchen was the range wall, with a stunning backsplash and quartz shelves crafted from HanStone Quartz Calacatta Extra.

The design incorporated a Sil granite sink, complemented by beautiful white oak cabinets that add a touch of sophistication. A custom hood fan became a distinctive feature, contributing to the overall elegance of the space. The kitchen offered a perfect balance of timeless style and contemporary functionality, creating a space that is not only elegant but also tailored to practical needs with added seating features.
