At the cottage, life tends to be slower and more relaxed. Your kitchen becomes the focal point for cooking and is a place where everyone can gather to enjoy one another’s company.
For this family, their cherished cottage is more than just a getaway. It is a second home. This is where they spend quality time together, and it needed to blend memories of the past with a new space that has room for growth to create new ones.
Our expert designer, Darien Wilson, was ready for this challenge. With a vision to breathe new life into this dated space and partnering with Urban Quarry for the countertops, this design would create an open and airy sanctuary for family generations to come to create memorable moments.
"Great ideas and design! Friendly and professional designers.
There are so many options out there. Darien understood the need, and all we had to do was choose colours- easy enough!” - Peter Paciorek, Homeowner.
A large wall divided this smaller space, creating a closed-off and uninviting atmosphere.
This cottage kitchen needed to combine functionality and elegance while maximizing the entire space. Every detail had to support the family's lifestyle while highlighting the cottage's peaceful surroundings.
Balancing timeless tradition with the touch of contemporary design, the once closed-off home now showcased comfort and style. After removing the wall, natural light was invited into the space, brightening the room, which enhanced the natural sage cabinets and quartz accents.
Calacatta Gold quartz was used for the backsplash and shelves, while flat slab sage cabinets provided a contrasting appeal. Touches of brass hardware and natural oak wood added a hint of rustic charm, perfectly complementing the GE matte white appliances. At the center of it all, a grand island with comfortable seating for five to invite everyone to gather around.
This well-designed cottage kitchen maximized functionality and charm by offering special features, including pull-out cabinets, drawers, an appliance garage, and a wine rack. It became a unique space where the old met the new, and every gathering shared the love for the simplicity of cottage life.
